Hour of Code (during school, volunteers needed)

Description

Please sign up to volunteer for Hour of Code on April 8-12. HOC will take place in the classroom during the scheduled library time. Caregiver volunteers will assist the children in getting started with their coding activities and provide help if they get stuck. It is great way to spend some time in the classroom with your student! We will have a volunteer leader helping in each session to guide everyone, so no experience in Hour of Code or coding in general is needed. Please note: All volunteers must have a CORI background check. Please see Ms. Rabito in the front office at least 10 days before the event if you need to complete one. CORI forms are good for 3 years.

Hour of Code is a program with the goal of exposing children to coding and computer science in an easily understood and accessible setting. Once a year, caregiver volunteers will go into the classroom with the students at Hardy and help them work through simple programing and logic exercises. We utilize resources provided by http://code.org, a non-profit dedicated to the vision that every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science as part of their core K-12 education. Volunteers do not need to have any programming or technology experience.
