Volunteering
Your help and creativity make things happen for our community! Find upcoming PTO event sign-ups and volunteer opportunities here.
CORI Checks: Every person who volunteers in school needs to be CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) checked. Bring your ID/driver's license and the last six digits of your Social Security number to the Main Office. You will need to fill out a short form. Allow time for your CORI information to be submitted for processing, at least several days in advance of your volunteer commitments.
Once completed, your CORI check is valid for three years.

Book Fair Event Coordinator and Volunteers
The Hardy PTO Book Fair is a much loved annual event and raises funds for the PTO while supporting Arlington's local book store, The Book Rack. Caregivers are also given an opportunity to volunteer in the school with their student's class. Katrina Bernstein-Lewicke will be running the book fair for a second year, but is hoping to train someone who is willing to commit to running it next year.
Duties include:
- Coordination with the vendor Fantastic Book Fair and school administration
- Recruiting volunteers to staff the bookfair through Signup Genius
- Creating a promotional flyer for the event
- Helping with setup and clean up
- Using the vendor’s computer based cash register system working with the PTO board to deposit cash at the bank.
This is typically an event that takes minimal time in planning ahead of the event, but considerable time from the event planner during the week of the book fair. The book fair vendor is very experienced, helpful and pleasant to work with. Contact katrina@hardypto.com to volunteer!
Buddy Families Volunteers
Buddy Families pairs incoming and existing Hardy families who would like some guidance and orientation about our school with a "buddy family" to answer questions and be a point of contact in the Hardy community.
Learn more about being matched or volunteering, and contact Buddyfamilyprogram@hardypto.com to get involved.
EVENTS
We always need volunteers at PTO events to help with set-up/clean-up and to help supervise games and activities. These are often short, half-hour shifts, and kids are almost always welcome to help their volunteering adult with their task.
If you are planning to attend an event and won't have your hands full with child supervision or other factors (we get it: sometimes you just can't!), please consider signing up for a shift!
Please visit our Events page to find sign-ups for upcoming PTO events!
